Alcohol and stress. Managing both, and knowing when you’re not managing, is important. Are you drinking more now than at the start of 2020? A VicHealth survey found that during the first coronavirus lockdown, men aged 45-54 years were drinking more. VicHealth CEO, Dr Sandro Demaio said “Evidence suggests men – particularly older men – find it hard to talk about their emotions and have turned to alcohol during coronavirus to cope with stress and anxiety.” Full details of the survey can be found at vichealth.vic.gov.au. Mantle encourages men to prioritise their mental and physical health, to have conversations and to seek help before stress gets out of control.
